〈JCJ声明〉イスラエルによるガザ記者殺害に抗議する

　戦場で取材するジャーナリストが、かつてない数で殺されている。

　3月24日、朝日新聞の記者ムハンマド・マンスール氏がガザ地区でイスラエルのミサイルによって殺害された。同じ日にアルジャジーラの記者ホッサム・シャバット氏も殺害された。ニューヨークを拠点とする国際非営利団体「ジャーナリスト保護委員会（CPJ; Com­mit­tee to Pro­tect Journalists）」は、「二人のジャーナリストが意図的に殺害された可能性」を調査するための国際的な調査を求めた。イスラエルは直ちにこれに応じなくてはならない。

　2023年10月から始まったイスラエルによるガザ攻撃で、5万人を超える市民が殺害され、その7割が子供と女性である。イスラエルによって国外のジャーナリストがガザ入りを阻まれる中、ガザのパレスチナ人ジャーナリストがイスラエルのジェノサイドを現場から報じてきた。マンスール記者らはその一員である。

　ガザ地区当局によると今年4月1日現在、ガザで死亡したジャーナリストは209人にものぼる。「胸にPRESSと書かれたベストを着用していると、むしろ標的にされやすくなる」という警告もあり、明白な国際法違反である。

　どの戦場であっても侵略・加害の側は残虐行為が報じられるのを妨げようとする。
マンスール通信員は殺される直前、傷ついた人々が運びこまれる病院で､医師からこう言われている「イスラエル軍はガザの人たちに安全なところはないと脅かしている。病院も､君ら記者も…」。

　侵略者は抵抗する市民を常に「テロリスト」と呼ぶ。記者殺害でも、「彼はハマスの一員だった」と主張する。
それでも世界のジャーナリストは戦場の惨劇から目をそらさない。彼らは、命がけで現場の苦悶を伝えるのは彼らの使命だと信じているからだ。

　我々はジャーナリストに対する意図的虐殺行為を決して許さない。
ここにイスラエル政府と軍の記者殺害に抗議し、国際刑事裁判所（ICC）にイスラエル軍の責任の検証を求める。

〈JCJ Statement〉Protest against the Mur­der of Jour­nal­ists

An unprece­dent­ed num­ber of jour­nal­ists have been killed while cov­er­ing sto­ries on bat­tle­fields.

On March 24, Muham­mad Man­sour, a reporter for the Asahi Shim­bun news­pa­per, was killed by an Israeli mis­sile while report­ing from the Gaza Strip. On the same day, Hos­sam Sha­bat, a reporter for Al Jazeera, was also killed. The Com­mit­tee to Pro­tect Jour­nal­ists (CPJ), an inter­na­tion­al non-prof­it orga­ni­za­tion based in New York, has called for an inter­na­tion­al inves­ti­ga­tion into whether “the two jour­nal­ists were delib­er­ate­ly killed.” Israel must respond to this imme­di­ate­ly.

Since the Israeli offen­sive on Gaza began in Octo­ber 2023, over 50,000 civil­ians have been killed, with 70% of the vic­tims being women and chil­dren. While Israel has barred for­eign jour­nal­ists from enter­ing Gaza, Pales­tin­ian jour­nal­ists in Gaza have been report­ing on Israel’s geno­cide from the ground. Among them is jour­nal­ist Man­sour and oth­ers.

Accord­ing to Gaza author­i­ties, as of April 1 this year, the num­ber of jour­nal­ists killed in Gaza has reached 209. Reports from the region warn that wear­ing a vest with ‘PRESS’ writ­ten on it makes one even more like­ly to be tar­get­ed. This is a clear vio­la­tion of inter­na­tion­al law.

On any bat­tle­field, the aggres­sor side will attempt to sup­press reports of atroc­i­ties. Just before he was killed, Man­sour was in a hos­pi­tal where injured peo­ple were being brought in. The doc­tor told him: “The Israeli troops are threat­en­ing the peo­ple of Gaza, say­ing there is no such thing as a safe place for them. And that applies to us at the hos­pi­tal and to you jour­nal­ists, too.” The invaders always call the cit­i­zens who resist “ter­ror­ists.” Even when they kill a jour­nal­ist, they insist: “He was a Hamas mem­ber.”

Even so, jour­nal­ists around the world do not turn away from the tragedies of war. They believe that it is their mis­sion to con­vey the agony of the scene, even at the risk of their own lives.

We will nev­er allow the delib­er­ate mas­sacre of jour­nal­ists. Here, we con­demn the Israeli gov­ern­ment and mil­i­tary for the mur­der of reporters and demand that the Inter­na­tion­al Crim­i­nal Court (ICC) inves­ti­gate the Israeli military’s respon­si­bil­i­ty for these crimes.
